The Turtle Creek Chorale to Perform
at Finals
IGRA Finals Rodeo Director Karroll Parker announced today
that the world-renowned Turtle Creek Chorale
has agreed to produce the Grand Entry ceremonies for IGRA's
2005 Finals Rodeo to be held in Dallas November 12-13, 2005.
The Grand Entry is rodeo's traditional opening ceremony and
includes the presentation of the colors on horseback, introduction
of rodeo officials and contestants, and in the Gay Rodeo -
presentation of the often-moving Riderless Horse
ceremony honoring members who have died.
The Turtle Creek Chorale will present a medley of songs with
a Texas flavor as well as perform during the Riderless Horse
ceremony. The 200-member chorus will also present The
Star Spangled Banner and Oh, Canada! - the National
Anthem of IGRA's Canadian members.
The Turtle Creek Chorale has performed around the world for
literally hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic patrons at
venues like Carnegie Hall and the finest theatres across Europe.
They have collaborated with luminaries like Dr. Maya Angelou,
Liza Minelli, Marlo Thomas, Betty Buckley, Margaret Cho, Nell
Carter, Michael Feinstein, Tom Wopat and Harvey Fierstein.
In the 25th season, the Turtle Creek Chorale has accomplished
many milestones. The year began in Montreal, Quebec at the
International Gay and Lesbian Festival of Choruses and continues
with a souvenir coffee table book and a new choral collection
published by Shawnee Press. The Chorale is also the subject
of a new documentary, The Power of Harmony, produced by AMS
Production Group and directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker,
Ginny Martin
One of the largest and most successful men's choruses in
the world, the group uses music to promote a world filled
with harmony where people focus on their similarities rather
than their differences.
The Turtle Creek Chorale is the most-recorded male chorus
in history with 34 CDs in release. The Chorale is celebrating
25 years as the most-beloved community chorus in the Metroplex.
The Chorale's 200+ members volunteer more than 100,000 hours
annually to community service and performances. Community
partners include Jacob's Ladder, The AIDS Recourse Center
of Dallas and Irving Senior Arts Program. The group has also
represented the DFW community at many prestigious events,
including several American Choral Director's Association conferences.
