Media Coverage at Finals

It's safe to say, this Finals Rodeo will be the most widely publicized rodeo since the first Reno Rodeo nearly thirty years ago. Press credentials are at an all-time high this year. Not only from the local press, but the national press is also inquiring about our rodeo.

Kelly Nielsen of TEAM Solutions in McKinney is in charge of our Media Center. He believes the increased interest is due to a combination of factors. "Coverage has been increasing over the past several years and has really peaked this year because of our exposure on QTelevision. Plus the fact that it's in Dallas, at the Resistol Arena and has been heavily promoted this year all play a part."

Whatever it is, we've fielded inquiries from the UK's Guardian Newspaper and from ABC News Nightline. We've arranged interviews with Sirius Radio Network's OutQ Channel and Comedy Central's Daily Show. And we've had a request from the Travel Network to send a crew doing a feature on the Gay Rodeo.

Two rodeo sponsors will be covering Finals this year. The Dallas Voice has already produced several articles about Finals, with more to come. And Scene Magazine will be in attendance.

And you can't miss the crew of television cameras being brought by HeroUnit Productions. They are the IGRA sponsor and producer of the rodeo highlight show being broadcast on QTelevision. They will have a 40-foot television production truck with miles of cable and cameras at various locations to capture it all on video tape. Their play-by-play announcer Brad Ecton will team up with color commentator Stef Mahan, as well as our own Tom "in the dirt" Sheridan to bring the action to us up close and personal.

The bottom line of course is to assure that everyone who wants to come will hear about it. And to get the word out about the great things being done on the IGRA rodeo circuit and for our beneficiaries.
