Michael Doughman - Rodeo Announcer |
|
Michael Doughman - Executive Director of the
Dallas Tavern Guild - is one of the movers and shakers in
the Dallas gay community. He always seems to be at the center
of the action. And though he only began announcing rodeos
in 2002, he's actually been involved since the very beginning.
He was in Reno in 1979 for the very first gay rodeo that eventually
led to the international organization we have today.
He has been working as the color commentator
along with long-time rodeo announcer R. D. Lynch. In Michael's
words, "It has been one of the most enjoyable and fun
activities I have ever been involved with. Announcing in the
arenas with a live audience and the action of the competition
is really an energy rush!"
He devotes his time to the rodeo because of
it's value to our community. "It serves as an outlet
for talented and
creative athletes to compete in the rodeo arena and be themselves
as the compete."
Michael points to the prestige of the Mesquite
Arena as one of the reasons he is so excited about Finals
Rodeo. "It is know as a world-class facility and to be
able to participate in that setting is a huge honor."
Most of all, he's looking forward to this opportunity
to welcome the world to Dallas. "I am looking forward
to the IGRA finals and to be able to be part of the Dallas
hospitality which I know we can bring to this weekend. We
love our
city and want to showcase it to all the contestants, their
guests, friends and loved ones who are coming for this amazing
weekend. Don't miss this opportunity to share in IGRA rodeo
history, right here in Big 'D'! Yeeehahhh!!"
Well said Michael.
